Vintage Protona Minifon Mi-51 Covert Spy Recorder Kit. from 1951 disguised as a doctors bag. Bag includes rare Mi-51 wire recorder, rare microphone watch, canvas body harness, standard microphone, deluxe microphone, telephone microphone tap, dual earphones, wire recording reel and leather doctors bag. Wire recorder is in very good working condition. It has been serviced, checked and cleaned. This is the first model wire recorder from Minifon and is from 1951. It has been checked and serviced and is in great operating condition, close to new. The recorder and all components have been cleaned, serviced and fully checked for proper operation. The recorder and all microphones have been checked and test recordings made on the wire reel. The Kit includes the rare microphone wristwatch which also works very well. The wire recorder was worn concealed in the canvas body harness which is also included and hidden under a coat or jacket. It was connected to the microphone wriswatch which was worn on the left arm and connected to the recorder with a wire which was run up through the shirt sleeve. Intelligence services through out the world including the CIA, FBI, KGB, the German Stasis and the Israel Mossad all used these recorders to make covert recordings. The recorder comes hidden in a covert doctors bag. The doctors bag looks like a standard 1950's doctors bag and includes standard medical tools but hidden under a false bottom in the bag is a secret compartment that conceals the entire spy recorder and accessories.There is a small chrome hat pin with a hook that is used to remove the false bottom cover to access the recorder. The hat pin is mounted in a small strap on the inside of the bag. The hook on the pin is inserted down the short side of the false bottom to hook the underside and pull up the false bottom cover. Once the false bottom is removed you have full access to the recorder and accessories. See pics six and seven, false bottom cover in place on pic six and false bottom cover removed on pic seven. When the false bottom is in place and the medical tools are in the bag no one would ever suspect the bag conceals a spy recorder.These kind of covert cold war spy recorders are very difficult to find and very rare. This kit is not only rare but unique in that it is in remarkably good condition almost mint and is also fully working.This is a very rare working recorder, microphone watch and body harness, very few of these early recorders were made and even fewer still exist.This kit is even more rare because it is still in working condition.
