Uher 4000 Report-L

Description

All proceeds from this sale will go to my town's school music program.  This recorder belonged to a dear friend, a member of the New York Philharmonic.  He would have wanted nothing more than to know that part of his estate went to support young musicians.
I don't know whether he used the recorder with the orchestra, but he was their de facto photographer as well as a musician, and it's possible he did rehearsal recordings for the group as well.
I do know that,
without taking precautions
, never to power up a piece of electrical equipment that's not been used for some years.  I'd also imagine it best to lubricate gear that has mechanical as well as electrical parts.  Hence, I've not tested this unit.  My best guess is that, with proper handling, it will work well.  The owner took care of the other recording and playback units I've sold from his estate--ones he used regularly, so I could test them--and all worked perfectly.  Still, since I know this piece had been on a shelf, I cannot vouch for its functionality.
I will not include the tape you see in the pictures.  I want to know what's on it.  If he used it to record his own practicing, or if it includes his voice, it would be invaluable to me and to his children.
