    Description

    Antique Cast Iron Book Press. 65 lbs. 10-1/2” x 13-1/2” surface. Stands about 16-3/4” high with the screw up. Opens to 3”. Unsigned. Appears to be in good usable condition. The screw is free and moves easily lowering and raising the top plate. The screw tightens down and provides much pressure. No cracks or repairs seen on the cast iron body. The handle is straight and tapered to cannonball ends. One steel tab on the top plate is gone. There is rust showing overall. The top plate and handle show pitting. Pitting can be seen in various areas. Penetrant was used to free the screw, it has been wiped off and cleaned with denatured alcohol. I went over the Press with a wire brush and removed loose rust and paint chips. Some paper remnants seen on the press plate surfaces. No other restoration has been done. Excellent antique patina and still a very useful tool. Please review the photos closely for a detailed visual description and read this listing completely.
